Persons who were called ‘sixth-quarter power’ in the Roh Tae-woo government stayed at the mortuary for three days.

Kim Jong-in, who served as the Minister of Health and Social Affairs and former chief economic officer of the Blue House, visited the funeral home on the same day and said, “I was serving him, so he comes to say hello every day until he leaves.”

Former First Minister of Political Affairs Park Cheol-eon, also known as the ‘Prince of Sixth Prince’, and former Chief of Staff Lim Jae-gil of the Blue House also kept the mortuary.

Regarding the possibility of condolences to former President Chun Doo-hwan, former Minister Park said, “The former president said that his family is holding him back for health reasons.”

Former Finance Minister Lee Yong-man also visited the mortuary again after two days and paid tribute to the deceased, saying, “He is a man who accepted 100% of the opinions of the people below and is a virtuous person. It is rare that a president who worked that much.”

Former lawmaker Heo Hwa-pyeong, who was considered a key member of the military in the Chun Doo-hwan regime, also visited the funeral.

Former lawmaker Heo told reporters, “He died while in a hospital bed, but looking back later, he left behind a great achievement. He performed a successful job as president,” and “probably will remain in the people’s memory for a long time.”

Han Gwang-ok, the former head of the office, cited his contribution to northern diplomacy as an achievement.

In the waiting room next to the mortuary in the morning, officials including former Chungnam Governor Shim Dae-pyeong, a funeral member of the bereaved family of President Roh’s Funeral Committee, Im Jae-gil, former senior secretary of the Blue House, Lee Yong-man, former Finance Minister, Geum Jin-ho, former Commerce and Industry Minister Geum Jin-ho, former Minister of Science and Technology Kim Jin-hyeon, and former deputy chief of security office Jang Ho-kyung were present. We discussed funeral arrangements. Deputy Minister of the Interior and Safety Ko Gyu-chang also visited the funeral home to discuss the funeral schedule.

The funeral of former President Roh will be held as the national funeral for five days, and the funeral will be held at 11 am on the 30th at the Olympic Park Peace Plaza in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
