Russian figure skating star Kamila Valieva (17), who was suspended as an athlete for breaking anti-doping regulations, was reported to have had as many as 56 drugs between the ages of 13 and 15.

The British daily Times quoted the ruling of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on the 13th (local time): “Three (Russian) team doctors gave Valieva heart medication, muscle strengthening drugs, and performance enhancing drugs for two years before that. Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. “It was mixed and administered as a cocktail,” the report said.

The list of drugs that Valieva tested positive for include the steroid hormone ecdysterone, hypoxen, which improves lung capacity, L-carnitine, which converts fat into energy, creatine, an amino acid supplement which improve muscle strength, and Stymol, which promotes fatigue. The Times reported that he had done it.

In response to this, Valieva’s medical team explained to CAS, “Valieva was diagnosed with heart disease when she was 14, she took heart medication for it, and the substance that tested positive for doping was part of the treatment mix.”

However, CAS did not accept this. The Times suspected that drug administration was organized in Russia.

This is because Dr. Filip Shwetzga, one of the three medical staff who drugged Valieva, has been with the Russian figure skating team since 2010. In 2007, while working as a team doctor for the Russian national rowing team, he was banned for two years for giving banned substances to athletes.

The Times pointed out that “Valieva was disciplined, but these people received no discipline.”

Olivier Nigley, Secretary General of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), said, “It is a shocking event,” and added, “On the one hand, Valieva was sacrificed to protect the adults who led the drug administration.”

Valieva caused a stir when the banned substance trimetazidine was detected in her urine sample ahead of the women’s figure skating singles event at the Beijing Winter Olympics held in February 2022.

Despite this controversy, Valieva took part in the game, but her performance was below expectations and she finished 4th and failed to win a medal.

WADA subsequently filed a complaint against RUSADA and Valieva to the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in November 2022 after the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) suspended its investigation into the case. Accordingly, CAS suspended Valieva for four years in January.

Valieva claimed, “I tested positive for drugs because strawberries for dessert were prepared on the cutting board my grandfather used to crush pills,” but this was not accepted.
