Space “We achieved it,” he said, sharing additional information about the results of Starship’s third test flight and presenting future plans.

According to Space The separation process between Starship and Super Heavy was also successful as scheduled, with all but three Raptor engines of the Super Heavy turned off and all six Raptor engines of the upper Starship ignited.

After stage separation, the Super Heavy booster completed a flip and reverse burn and descended toward the Gulf of Mexico, but experienced a “rapid unscheduled disassembly” after igniting several engines for the final launch, the company explained. .

The upper Starship spacecraft successfully entered the intended orbit and completed ascent burn for the first time. Additional goals were also achieved, such as opening and closing the payload door and demonstrating propellant transfer during flight.

However, due to shaking of the aircraft during orbital flight, the planned re-ignition of the Raptor engine was not attempted. Afterwards, Starship failed to complete the test flight while re-entering the atmosphere and disappeared in the air.

Space “While we are reviewing the data collected from this flight, Starship and Super Heavy aircraft are preparing for upcoming flights,” he said, adding, “We are working to increase the number of launches throughout the year.”

SpaceX attempted Starship test flights twice, in April and November last year. Previously, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk recently announced on X (formerly Twitter) that he hopes to launch Starship at least six times this year.
