State elections in Hesse and Bavaria: What happens next?

Hesse and Bavaria have voted. The traffic light parties are punished while the AFD triumphs. What does this mean for federal politics?

The CDU and CSU won by a clear margin in the state elections in Hesse and Bavaria. But the CDU/CSU parties cannot really be satisfied with the result. However, the losers are primarily the SPD and FDP. And the Greens are also losing votes. The AfD can make significant gains.
