England superstar Ben Stokes has withdrawn from the 15th season of the IPL. With the player stepping down, Stokes’ name will not be included in the IPL star auction. The IPL megastar auction will be held in the second week of February. Ben Stokes, along with Test captain Joe Root, has reportedly withdrawn from the IPL following his side’s defeat to Australia in the Ashes. England lost the series 4–0. England’s next Test is against New Zealand.
Stokes missed the 2021 IPL season with a finger injury. When the Rajasthan Royals announced the players they would retain in the squad ahead of the mega star auction for the 2022 season, it did not include Stokes’ name. The franchise only retained Moin Ali and Jose Butler in the squad.
