Guterres requested the humanitarian truce in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur province, to alleviate the dire conditions and facilitate aid distribution. burhan reportedly agreed, emphasizing the importance of adhering to relevant U.N. Security Council resolutions.
Though, the role of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) remains uncertain. It is not yet known whether the RSF will agree to or comply with the proposed ceasefire, raising concerns about its effectiveness.
