Sugar mills continue to accept sugarcane crushing for the 2064/22 production season on December 7, with an expected yield of 90 million tons, with the initial sugar cane price set at 1,070 baht per ton of sugar cane at a sweetness value of 10 c. C.S.
Mr. Siriwut Siemphakdi Vice Chairman of the Executive Board of Thai Sugar Miller Company Limited (TSMC) revealed that the latest meeting of the Cane and Sugar Board (Kor.) was held on November 17, 2021 with four important considerations as follows:
1. Determination of the final sugar cane price in 2020/21 , 2. Determination of the preliminary determination of sugar cane in 2021/22 , 3. Determining the date of sugarcane crushing in the 2021/22 production season, and 4. Determining the rate of collection of maintenance fees. to the Institute of Sugarcane Farmers which is considered an agenda directly related to sugarcane farmers
However, since the directors from sugar cane farmers did not attend this meeting, Chairman Kon. asked to withdraw the aforementioned agenda first. As a result, Kon. did not have a resolution on this matter. In particular, the date of opening of sugarcane crushing for the production season of 2064/22 as proposed by the GPF.
However, even though Gon has not yet set the date for the 204/22 cane crushing date as proposed by the GPP, all 57 sugar mill operators are ready to accept sugarcane crushing according to the schedule approved by the GPO. Cane crushing starts from December 7, 2021 onwards as the factory has already prepared sugarcane crushing machinery. At the same time, the farmers are ready. And the condition and age of the sugar cane are suitable for cutting and sending to the chest. The factory will advance the initial sugar cane payment to sugarcane farmers before 1,070 Baht per ton of sugar cane at 10 cc. sweetness value, with an additional 64.20 baht per cc. Livelihood and occupation in sugarcane cultivation
As for the amount of sugar cane to be crushed in the 204/22 production season, the sugar mill department expects There will be approximately 90 million tonnes of sugar cane production, higher than last year’s yield of 66 million tonnes due to climate factors contributing to sugar cane growth. It has the best quality for extracting sugar to get the highest amount of sugar per ton of cane (yield) to help manage the efficiency of sugar production of the factory in another way. and will work together to reduce the problem of sugarcane fires to fully meet the government’s policies
For the production season of 2064/22, the factory department will not deduct the sugarcane farmer’s institutional maintenance fee. Because there is a risk of illegal activities and may be sued by farmers.
“The factory side agreed to continue accepting sugarcane crushing for this year’s production season. by setting the date for opening the sugarcane crushing season and preliminary payment for sugar cane is determined according to the resolution of the Board of Directors that has already been approved In order not to affect sugarcane farmers who want to deliver sugarcane to the factory This will enable farmers to earn additional income from cultivating and delivering quality fresh sugarcane. that will help drive the sugarcane and sugar industry to grow sustainably,” said Mr. Siriwut.
