The level of Burkinabè cinema has fallen and young learners today go straight to feature films overnight even though they have no knowledge of cinema. This is the observation of director Adama Roamba which led to the creation of this project.

Called “two Best Short Film Screenplays”, this project wants to put writings on short film scripts into competition in order to select the best, according to Adama Roamba. “ This is a short film script competition. The criteria are very simple, you just have to write scenarios of no more than 25 minutes which deal with the facts of life. You must also be at least 45 years old. declared the project leader.

After listening to it, a jury made up of experts in the field will be responsible for making the selection. “ They have until March 30 to submit their project. The particularity this year is that we will focus on films which particularly deal with the facts of our society. The second we will need the originality of the work. The rest, as we are undertaking rewriting work, so it’s not a problem”he added.

The first edition included the work of Floriane Zoundi. He is titled The Botanist. This 13-minute film, with a few characters and around thirty technicians, deals with a current subject. Terrorism, in particular the consequences of anything seen as a terrorist attack on ordinary citizens.

For the young director, in this second edition she intends to leave room for new ones to allow talents to be revealed. “I am writing for my next short film. But I think it’s an opportunity to give way to others. The problem today is to reveal talents so I will give the chance to the new ones,” she said.
