The Journey of Tessa Joseph: From Film Debut to Taking a Break and Returning to Cinema

Tessa Joseph is an actress who entered the film industry with the film Lal Jose. Tessa’s first film was Pattala which was released in 2003. But after this film, the actor took a big break from films.

In 2015, Tessa Joseph came back to the cinema with ‘I will direct’ by Balachandra Menon. Now, in an interview with Kaumudi Movies, Tessa talks about why she stayed away from films after the army.

‘2004 – 2003 is a very young age. There is a big difference between what children think today and what we think back then. We weren’t rebels then.

We used to think that whatever parents say is for our own good. Even if it is a career, parents have a big role there. We can’t move forward without getting their ‘yes’.

But that’s not how children are today. They know exactly what they want and what they don’t want. At that time, my mother wondered what my family life would be like if I stopped acting.

We were not familiar with this area. When you’re in the military, that’s the first and last movie. The rest is a film made after the wedding,’ says Tessa Joseph.

The actor says that director Lal Jose came to their house before Pattalam and spoke to his parents. Tessa said in the interview that she came to the cinema when she convinced them.
