According to reports from Agence France-Presse, President Yoon Seok-yue and his wife Kim Jian-hee commenced the second day of their state visit by engaging with British political leaders and finalizing a new diplomatic agreement.

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) noted that during the initial day of President Yoon Seok-yue’s state visit, King Charles III lauded Korean pop groups BLACKPINK and BTS. He also praised the captivating allure of Korean culture during a banquet speech, while acknowledging his lack of familiarity with the “Gangnam Style” phenomenon.

Recognition for Environmental Advocacy

On the subsequent day of their state visit, President Yoon Seok-yue and his wife witnessed King Charles III bestow the “Member of the British Empire” (MBE) honor upon BLACKPINK members Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa at Buckingham Palace.

Buckingham Palace disclosed that the accolade was bestowed upon BLACKPINK in acknowledgement of their advocacy efforts at the 26th Conference of the Parties (COP26) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2021.

During the award presentation, King Charles III commended BLACKPINK for leveraging their global influence to address crucial environmental issues, expressing a desire to witness the group’s live performance someday.
