“The patient died. It’s the same with Schengen”

The PSD leader appealed to the political parties for unity with a view to Romania’s accession to Schengen. Marcel Ciolacu summarized Romania’s Schengen-related experience with the phrase: “The operation was successful, but I’m sorry the patient died”

Marcel Ciolacu called for “solidarity” and “coordinated actions” on the part of all political parties to build a common plan regarding Romania’s accession to the Schengen Area.

He claims that foreign policy must emerge from the numbness of recent years in order to represent the interests of Romanians:

“I want this year to change the register and to say clearly what is the path of the Romanians and of Romania.

You can’t claim to be a regional player when, until now, all foreign policy we have slept on the back seat of Europe.

You can’t have pretensions and see failures. Doctor, how did the surgery go? Excellent. The operation was successful, but I’m sorry the patient died. It’s the same with Schengen.

We must have a coherent policy and be respected. We can only achieve this if we are united, even from different political families.

The period of amateurism at the central level is over,” declared the PSD president.
