Calvin Ward recalled setting up nets in the backyard when Cameron was 8 years old, fostering his son’s love for the game. “Cameron fell in love with the workouts,” Calvin said. “From a young age he was always like, ‘I want to be a professional athlete in somthing.’ My beliefs was always to play as many sports as you want. Ward acknowledged his parents’ influence on his decision-making. “My parents really let me make my own decisions,” Ward said. “But they give me different angles to look at it. They see it from their point of view then they also got to see it from the other person’s point of view as well.”
Ward is steadfast to make his mark with the Titans. He passed for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns last season at Miami, earning the Davey O’Brien Award and finishing fourth in Heisman Trophy voting. He also set the career combined FCS and FBS record with 158 touchdown passes.
