Tom Homan to Lead Minnesota ICE Following Alex Pretti Killing

Former Trump administration border czar ⁣Tom Homan⁣ will oversee U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations in Minnesota following ‌the killing of‍ Alex Pretti ‍by federal agents in Minneapolis,the White House announced ⁤Monday.

“Tom is tough but fair, and will report directly⁢ to me,” President Donald Trump ‍said in a Truth Social post.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt added that homan will work with officials investigating ⁤fraud schemes in Minnesota.

Trump stated Homan hasn’t previously been involved‍ in ⁢Minnesota,where thousands of⁢ federal agents are enforcing the administration’s ⁣deportation policies.

Federal agents have fatally ⁢shot two U.S. citizens in Minneapolis in under a month, sparking ⁣widespread protests, criticism of ‌ICE from ⁢Democrats, and calls ⁣for⁢ de-escalation from business leaders.

Trump’s decision to put Homan in ​charge comes as Homeland Security Secretary ⁣Kristi Noem and other officials face criticism – even from gun-rights groups and some conservatives – regarding their handling of the‌ situation⁣ in Minneapolis.

Fox⁢ News reported Sunday that some senior immigration enforcement officials are ‍”uneasy &‍ frustrated” with the Department of⁣ Homeland‌ security’s public statements ‍following the ‍latest shooting.

Axios reported last month that Noem and Homan have a strained working relationship.
