In 2011, the Madura-Theni body converted the 90.4 km gauge line into broad gauge, which started during the Congress government. The pressure of people in Theni and constant fighting was disabling. Subsequently, in 2017, the BJP government allocated 354 crore rupees for the project. The jobs are fast.
Completion of construction of 75 km Madura-Theni Broad Gauge Road Madura-Theni service started from May 26. Passenger train is running every day. The train will reach Madurai in two hours.
After completing the entire work up to the body, the train ran to Chennai. The railway is on the move. The 15 km wide railway between Theni and Bodi Manam is very fast. The operation is being carried out at a cost of five crore rupees per kilometer. Between Theni and Bodi there are 30 small bridges and three main bridges. Eight kilometers of rail work has been completed. Rail work is progressing on the remaining seven kilometres. The railway station work is also progressing rapidly in Bodi. The activities will be completed in December.
The train was running at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour from Theni and the track was inspected. 50 km/hr and 120 km/h respectively Commencement of regular train services after inspection .
