Top economic advisers to President Donald ⁤Trump are scheduled to meet with Chinese officials in London next week to discuss the trade deal. The proclamation, made Friday by Trump, follows a recent phone conversation with Chinese President xi Jinping.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and‍ U.S.Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer will represent the United States at ‌the‍ meeting on Monday, June 9, 2025.The talks‍ aim to address the US-China trade relationship.

“I am pleased to announce that ‌Secretary of the ‍Treasury Scott Bessent, secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, and ⁣United States Trade Representative, Ambassador Jamieson Greer, ‌will be meeting in London on Monday, June 9, 2025, with Representatives of China, with reference⁣ to the Trade ⁣Deal,” Trump said in ⁢a social media post.⁣ he added,“The meeting⁣ should go very well.‍ Thank you ⁢for your attention to‍ this matter!”

The upcoming meeting occurs just days after Trump and Xi spoke by phone, discussing trade and potential visits to each other’s countries. Trump described the call ‌as having “resulted in a very positive conclusion⁣ for both Countries.”

This positive outlook marks a shift from previous tensions. Prior to the phone call,⁢ Washington and Beijing had accused each other of violating a previous agreement made in Geneva. That agreement involved‍ reducing tariffs‌ for 90 days.

What’s ⁢next

The ‍London ‌discussions could signal a renewed effort to ease trade tensions between the two economic superpowers. Further details regarding the agenda and‍ expected outcomes of the meeting remain to be seen.
