Trump Thailand Cambodia Golf Border Dispute
Trump Offers Ceasefire, Faces Protests in Scotland
Edinburgh, scotland – Former U.S. President Donald Trump, currently visiting Scotland, has offered too mediate a ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia amidst renewed border clashes. The former president stated his intention to relay this message to Cambodian prime Minister Hun Sen, expressing optimism for peace and prosperity following discussions with both parties. Trump also indicated that trade deals with both nations would be contingent on the cessation of hostilities.
The conflict, which re-erupted on Thursday, saw five Thai soldiers wounded by a landmine explosion along the disputed border area. Trump’s intervention comes as he spends time at his golf courses in Scotland, the homeland of his late mother.
‘A Disgrace’ to Scottish Roots
Trump’s visit to Scotland has been met with notable opposition, with protests occurring at his golf courses and in cities across the UK. hundreds gathered in Edinburgh on Saturday, voicing their disapproval of the former president and criticizing British Prime Minister Keir Starmer for a recent trade deal that averted U.S. tariffs on UK goods.
“The vast majority of Scots have this sort of feeling about Trump that, even though he has Scottish roots,he’s a disgrace,” said mark Gorman,63,an advertising professional who attended the Edinburgh protest. Gorman expressed his deep disdain for trump and his principles. The protests, loosely organized under a “Stop Trump Coalition,” also included environmental activists, opponents of Israel’s war on Gaza (a stance strongly supported by the Trump governance), and pro-Ukraine groups.
“I think there are far too many countries that are feeling the pressure of Trump and that they feel that they have to accept him and we should not accept him here,” commented June Osbourne, 52, a photographer and photo historian.
Amy White, 15, from Edinburgh, attended with her parents, holding a sign that read, “We don’t negotiate with fascists.” Other demonstrators displayed images of Trump alongside Jeffrey Epstein, referencing the ongoing media attention and backlash from Trump’s MAGA base concerning Epstein case files.
Scottish Parliament member Maggie Chapman addressed a crowd of hundreds in Aberdeen, stating,”We stand in solidarity, not only against Trump but against everything he and his politics stand for.”
Trade and Golf on the Agenda
While golf is the primary reason for his trip, Trump is also scheduled to discuss trade with Prime Minister starmer and european Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The Trump family is expected to visit another of their golf courses near Aberdeen before returning to Washington on Tuesday.
