Warning 1,576 medical facilities in 23 provinces at risk of flooding from storm Kompasu

October 14, 2021 – Dr. Kiatpoom Wongrachit, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health (MOU), said that Thailand is now influenced by 2 storms: 1. Tropical Storm Tien Mu, causing a total of 33 flooding. At present, there are still situations in 10 provinces, namely Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nakhon Sawan, Lop Buri, Suphan Buri, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya and Pathum Thani, totaling 90,507 households.

2. Storm “Lion Rock” caused flooding in 8 provinces. At present, there are still situations in 2 provinces, namely Chanthaburi and Trat, totaling 5,427 households.

Overall, the two incidents resulted in 107 injuries and 61 deaths. A total of 112 shelters were opened, 142 health care facilities were affected, 116 were operating normally, 17 were partially open and 9 were closed. The provision of patient care services is no longer affected.

In addition, Thailand also has a monsoon trough that passes into tropical storm “Khompasu” in the Gulf of Tonkin. And the strong southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, the South and the Gulf of Thailand, causing heavy rainfall in some parts of the Northeast, the East, the Central and the South.

There is an area to watch for water overflow along banks, flooding and flash floods in 23 provinces, namely Khon Kaen, Chanthaburi, Trat, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nakhon Sawan, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Lop Buri, Si Sa Ket, Sing Buri, Suphan Buri, Ang Thong, Ubon Ratchathani, Roi Et, Saraburi, Pathum Thani, Buriram, Maha Sarakham, Yasothon, Kalasin, Nakhon Ratchasima. Affects 1,576 places
