Muscat: The Royal Oman Police issued a warning against dangerous driving practices. Authorities said dangerous driving practices increased during Ramadan. Speeding and reckless driving patterns have increased in Oman during the first 10 days of Ramadan, officials said. Offenses were found including using the phone while driving. Brigadier General Engineer Ali Bin Salim Al Falahi, Director General of Traffic, said wrong overtaking is one of the main causes of traffic accidents.

He said concerted efforts are needed from all sections of society to ensure road safety during Ramadan. The authorities have decided to strengthen awareness of this among children in schools.
