WHO Director-General: “The idea that omicron is the last mutation is dangerous”

The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) reiterated the risk of thinking that the COVID-19 omicron mutation would be the last or that we are at the end of a global pandemic.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at a meeting of the WHO Board of Directors, which started on the 24th local time, for five days.

“It is our priority to end the acute phase of the global pandemic,” said Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization. We can end the global health emergency of 19.”

“It is true that we will live with the coronavirus in the near future and we need to learn to manage it,” he said, but that does not mean “we are letting this virus do its thing.”

“We cannot accept that about 50,000 people a week lose their lives from preventable and treatable diseases,” he said.
