Ahn Cheol-soo, chairman of the transition committee, and Yoon Seok-yeol, who was a candidate at the time, often clashed over promises.
Regarding Candidate Yoon’s promise of 2 million won in monthly salary for soldiers, he said, “It is a ticketing act and populism.”

He also criticized Candidate Yoon’s promise to abolish the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family as a “divergence.”

Now, Chairman Ahn is in a situation where he has to compromise between the policy stance of President-elect Yoon and his previous position.
First of all, I took the principled position that I would review the promises of Candidate Yoon, prepare alternatives, and then make the final decision according to the judgment of President-elect Yoon.

President-elect Yoon’s promise to abolish the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, which he immediately criticized, could not be clearly stated in favor or against.

Whether the acceptance of the transition chairperson following the unification of candidates will be the first button of a joint government for Ahn Cheol-soo or lead to a struggle for initiative with so-called hackers, it is emerging as a measure of the success or failure of the transition committee.
