People’s Power Candidate Yoon Seok-yeol’s wife, the police investigating allegations of preferential treatment for the company’s apartment business, seized and searched the Yangpyeong County Office, which was in charge of licensing.
The police are investigating whether there was any preference for the unexpected extension of the project period and the process of exempting the development fee.

“These are documents related to the extension of the (construction period) and the development fee of 0 won. These are documents related to the Yangpyeong Gongheung District.”
The police sent 30 investigators to search 16 places, including 8 departments related to urban development in Yangpyeong County Office and 8 residences of former and current civil servants, for 6 hours.
People’s Power This is the first forced investigation since a civic group reported last month about suspicions of preferential treatment in an apartment in the Gongheung district of Yangpyeong-gun built by the mother-in-law of candidate Yoon Seok-yeol, mother-in-law Choi, and Choi’s family company.
The 350-unit apartment in 5 buildings, which was implemented by Mr. Choi’s company, was completed in July 2016, and the sales revenue confirmed by the audit report reached 80 billion won.
Previously, it was revealed that Yangpyeong-gun extended the deadline by one year and eight months, even though the company of candidate Yoon’s mother-in-law passed the business deadline in November 2014.
In addition, the development charge of 1.7 billion won, which was imposed after the completion of the construction, was reduced and exempted so as not to pay a single penny when Choi raised two objections.
As suspicions surfaced, Yangpyeong-gun imposed a development fee of 180 million won late last month.
At the time of this incident, the mayor of Yangpyeong is Senator Kim Seon-kyo, who is currently active in the election committee of Yoon Seok-yeol.
Rep. Kim’s side previously explained, “The extension of the business deadline was entrusted to a working person and I can’t remember.”
The police plan to analyze the confiscated material to determine whether there is any preference, and then proceed with an investigation into Yoon’s mother-in-law, Choi.
