YouTube is constantly evolving, introducing new features to enhance the experience for both viewers and creators. Last year, the platform announced the ability to upload longer short-form videos, up to three minutes in length. Now, YouTube is experimenting with a new tool that empowers creators to maximize the impact of their videos’ most engaging moments.

The video-sharing platform already provides creators with video insights, showcasing key performance indicators and highlighting the most impactful moments within their content.This helps creators understand what resonates with their audience. Now, YouTube is testing a new clip creation tool within youtube Studio. Eligible creators will find a new option called “Create clip” in the video editing tool.

The tool automatically identifies popular segments within a video, wich creators can then edit and publish as separate clips. Notably, these clips will maintain the customary 16:9 aspect ratio, unlike vertical short-form videos.

For now, this feature is only available on YouTube Studio for desktop and is being tested with a limited number of creators who upload videos in English. As a viewer, you may start noticing these clips appearing on channels participating in the test. These snippets will highlight key moments from longer videos, allowing you to quickly gauge whether the content aligns with your interests before committing to watching the full video.
