On July 2nd, the much-anticipated 2023 China·Mohe Arctic Polar Day Marathon kicked off in Beiji Village. As the sole polar day marathon in China, this prestigious event attracted over 3,000 passionate runners from both national and international backgrounds.

The competition featured three exciting categories: men’s and women’s full marathons, men’s and women’s half marathons, and a mini marathon (5 kilometers) designed for both men and women. At precisely 15:10, the air reverberated with the sound of the starting gun, and the eager participants embarked on their challenging journey. The route took them along the picturesque Arctic Mountain Villa, meandering alongside the Sino-Russian border river, through lush forests, and offering breathtaking views of the border river, providing a refreshing summer experience akin to an invigorating natural oxygen bar.

After an intense display of talent and determination, Zhu Keke claimed the crown as the men’s champion, completing the grueling race in an impressive 2 hours, 32 minutes, and 51 seconds. In the women’s division, Zong Meiling soared to victory, finishing in 2 hours, 59 minutes, and 34 seconds. Daniel SIMATWO clinched the title in the men’s half marathon, crossing the finish line at an impressive 1 hour, 12 minutes, and 50 seconds. Chen Chunyang showcased her prowess by securing the women’s half marathon title with a remarkable time of 1 hour, 26 minutes, and 11 seconds.

Known as the “North Pole of China,” Mohe City, located in the northernmost part of the country, boasts the highest latitude in China.
