A 72-hour strike by junior doctors in Britain from tomorrow

LONDON – Junior doctors in Britain are on strike for 72 hours starting tomorrow to demand reduced workloads and a cost-of-living wage increase. The operation of the National Health Service in the public sector may be disrupted.

Waiting times for treatment in Britain have increased significantly due to the surge in patients during the Covid-19 pandemic. Due to the sudden increase in prices, the salary is not enough. The British Medical Association’s Junior Doctors’ Union, which is leading the strike, said that although the authorities did not take a favorable position despite many requests for a pay rise, the junior doctors who studied by taking out educational loans could not continue when the repayments were due .

Health Secretary Steve Barclay has called in representatives of the junior doctors’ union to discuss the matter. He also said that he was ready to give the pay rise to junior doctors as well.
