Two tropical storms,Barbara and Cosme,are gaining strength off the Pacific coast ⁣of Mexico,according to the U.S. National Hurricane Centre. Forecasters in Miami are closely monitoring both systems as they develop.

Tropical Storm Barbara, located about 185 miles southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico, is packing maximum sustained winds of 70 mph. The NHC anticipates Barbara reaching hurricane strength later Monday. While a west-northwest track is expected over the ⁣next few days, the storm ⁢should begin to weaken by Tuesday.

The approaching storm,Barbara,may bring rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches to ⁢the coastal regions of Guerrero,Michoacan,Colima,and⁢ Jalisco. Localized flooding is possible.The NHC also warned that⁤ swells from Barbara are likely to generate⁤ life-threatening surf and rip‍ currents along the southwestern Mexican coast,accompanied by gusty winds.
