At the World Table Tennis Championships held on the 20th in Busan, South Korea, Brazil, which is in the same group as Japan, defeated Iran 3-0 in the fourth match of the first championship in women’s teams. After Japan, who took the lead with a series of 4 consecutive victories, they advanced to the final phase with a record of 3 victories and 1 defeat.

By advancing to the round of 16 of the World Table Tennis Team Tournament, they will earn the right to participate in the Paris Olympics as a team and earn two Olympic singles berths. The tournament is held in such a way that the team that wins 3 out of 5 singles matches wins, and in the first round 40 men’s and women’s teams are divided into 8 groups and compete against each other. 24 teams will enter the final phase, the top three in each group. Additionally, the top eight teams in each group will be seeded in the first round of the finals and will advance to the second round (the top 16).

Brazil, aiming to participate in the team competition for the third time in a row, defeated South Africa 3-0 in their first league match and started by winning. In the second match, they won their second consecutive victory against Luxembourg 3-2. The third match was a “win-win showdown” against Japan, but they lost 0–3, losing first place in their group.

Then, in the fourth match, they faced Iran.
