Kadampazhipuram: Police have taken evidence against the accused in the Kannukurshi double murder case. Defendant Unnirikundil Rajendran was first taken to a rented house in Kallamparambil where he was staying and then to the house in Kannukurshi where the murder took place. He also went to a rented house near the Vailyamkunnu temple where he used to live, but the house was locked. The accused was brought here at 11.15 am. The interrogation lasted for more than an hour in the bedroom and outside the house where the body was found.

On the night of November 14, 2016, Vadakkekkara Cheerappath Gopalakrishnan (Rajan-62) and his wife Thankamani (Thankammu-52) were killed in the bedroom of their house. Further investigation to Tamil Nadu

The crime branch team left for Tamil Nadu today for further investigation in the Kannukursi double murder case. Police suspect that there are co-accused in the case. Rajendran has been running a tea shop in Tamil Nadu for years. The police will investigate his background in detail.

Crowds filled the field

As on November 15, 2016, the crowd ran to hear the news of the tragedy and to see the accused yesterday. People arrived before 10 am on the information that the accused would be brought to the court for evidence. For security reasons, there was a large police contingent led by the Srikrishnapuram police. Many came to witness the testimony, even while on leave from work. Defendant Rajendran is well known to the locals as he is a neighbor of the slain couple.
