Fitbit Charge 5 Users Report Device Failure and Battery Issues After Latest Update

Fitbit Charge 5 Users Encounter Device Issues Following Latest Software Update

Fitbit, the renowned wearable device manufacturer owned by Google, has acknowledged a software bug affecting certain models of its ‘Charge 5’ fitness trackers. Users have reported experiencing device malfunction and reduced battery life after installing the latest update.

Approximately two weeks ago, Fitbit introduced a software update (version 194.61) for the Charge 5, intended to enhance user experience through new exercise modes, expanded language support, and improved watch faces.

However, an increasing number of users have voiced their frustration on Fitbit’s official community forum, reporting that their devices have become inoperable following the update. The dissatisfaction is further compounded by battery overuse issues, with affected users claiming that their once long-lasting Charge 5 now barely makes it through a single day on a full charge.

Fitbit has acknowledged these user complaints and is currently actively investigating the matter. As of now, it remains uncertain whether the company plans to offer free replacements for the malfunctioning devices that succumbed to the update. It is worth noting that Fitbit provides a one-year warranty following the initial product release.

Google-owned wearable device manufacturer FitBit reported on the 11th (local time) that some models of the ‘Charge 5’ fitness tracker are unable to use the device after installing the latest update.

Fitbit released the latest software update for the Charge 5 (version 194.61) about two weeks ago. This update includes feature improvements and bug fixes, including the addition of new exercise modes, expanded language support, and improved watch faces.

However, some users are complaining that the tracker is broken after installing the update via Fitbit’s official community forum. Battery overuse issues have also been reported. The Charge 5 can be used for several days on a single charge, but after the update, the battery life is said to be only a day.

Fitbit has acknowledged the issue and is currently investigating. However, it is not yet known whether the company will provide a free replacement service for failed devices after the update. Fitbit offers a one-year warranty after release.
