Forgotten Tracker Tile Built-in Creca “Sumitomo Mitsui Card Tile” Appears –Engadget Japan Version

The Visa card “Sumitomo Mitsui Card Tile” equipped with the forgotten item tracker “Tile” function is now available.

“Sumitomo Mitsui Card Tile” is a credit card that connects to a smartphone via Bluetooth. Equipped with a Tile function, you can check the position where the connection between the smartphone and the card is disconnected (= lost position) with the Tile app. Also, if you put the card in your wallet, you can use the Tile function to find the entire wallet even if you drop it.

Built-in physical switch and speaker. You can make a sound from the card by operating the Tile app, or you can make a sound from your smartphone by pressing the switch on the card. If you can’t find your card or smartphone in your room or bag, press this switch to make it easier to find.

Tile is also compatible with smart speakers, and you can also use it to call the smart speaker and play the sound of the card.

Built-in ultra-thin battery to realize the above functions with the thinness of a general credit card (0.76 mm). It has also cleared the bending test more than 1000 times.

The newly developed EMV chip doubles as a charging terminal and can be used for up to half a year when fully charged with the included dedicated charger. Even if the battery runs out, it will not affect the use of the credit card function.

“Sumitomo Mitsui Card Tile” will be available for pre-order for the first 1500 cards from December 16th, and will be issued sequentially after mid-January. If there are more than 1500 reservations, it will be a lottery.
