Google’s next ‘Pixel 8’ passes WPC certification… Supports 12W Qi wireless charging

Google’s next flagship ‘Pixel 8’ to be released this fall has passed Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) certification.

The ‘Pixel 8’ that passed the certification is confirmed to have model number GKWS6 and supports 12W Qi wireless charging. The wireless charging speed is the same as the previous product.

The next generation Qi2 wireless charging standard was announced in January this year. The Pixel 8 Pro may support Qi2 wireless charging, but it seems unlikely.

The Qi2 standard, which replaces the current Qi standard, is based on Apple’s Magsafe charging system, so it can be used with Android and iOS devices.

Meanwhile, the Pixel 8 series will be unveiled at a Google hardware event this fall.
