Hewlett Packard (HPE) in Talks to Acquire Juniper Networks (JNPR) for $13 Billion

[이데일리 장예진 기자] Hewlett Packard (HPE) was said to be discussing a plan to buy network equipment company Juniper Networks (JNPR) for $13 billion. With this news, the stock prices of both companies are showing mixed trends in pre-market trading.

As of 8:30 am on the 9th (local time), Hewlett Packard’s stock price is moving at $16.29, down 8.07% from the previous day in pre-opening trading, while Juniper Networks’ stock price is moving at $36.67, to up 21.34% from the previous day.

According to Barron’s, Hewlett Packard is reportedly in talks to acquire Juniper Networks for $13 billion. The acquisition amount is a premium of more than 30% of the current stock price.

The deal between the two companies is expected to be announced this week, and sources familiar with the industry said the acquisition is expected to go through unless talks break down.

Meanwhile, Hewlett-Packard is expected to emerge as a strong contender in the network equipment market with this acquisition.
