NHK releases main visual for taiga drama “Hikaru Kimi e”
NHK has unveiled the main visual for its upcoming taiga drama “Hikaru Kimi e,” set to premiere on January 7, 2024. The drama will focus on the life of Mahiro Murasaki Shikibu, the renowned author of “The Tale of Genji” during the Heian period, portrayed by Yuriko Yoshitaka.
The story will revolve around Murasaki Shikibu’s emotional journey, including her feelings for Fujiwara Michinaga, her hidden passion, and her unique imagination. It will showcase a woman who lived with unwavering love in a world constantly in flux.
In addition to Yoshitaka, the cast includes Haru Kuroki, Arata Iura, Yo Yoshida, Yusuke Santamaria, Kuranosuke Sasaki, Goro Kishitani, and Yasunori Danda. The drama is created by Shizuka Oishi, with music by Yumi Fuyuno and narration by Toshie Ito. Production is supervised by Yuki Uchida and Takehiro Matsuzono.
The drama will air every Sunday at 8:00pm starting January 7, 2024, with additional broadcasts on BS Premium/BS 4K at 18:00 and BS Premium 4K at 12:15. There will also be a rebroadcast the following Saturday at 13:15.

Of the many pictures of Yoshitaka-san, who looks so beautiful in her dress, this one really caught my attention. It’s like you’re smiling at someone, like you’re looking inside yourself. He seems calm, as if he is holding back the fluctuations in his heart. I was convinced that our “Mahiro” was in this phrase that I couldn’t catch and I couldn’t take my eyes off him.
