THE HAGUE / CAIRO (Reuters) – The International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Wednesday ordered Israel to take necessary and effective measures to ensure the timely distribution of basic food to Palestinians in Gaza Ordered unanimously.

“Palestinians in Gaza no longer only face the risk of starvation; famine occurs,” the ICJ said.

South Africa requested the move as part of a lawsuit filed by Israel accusing it of committing genocide in Gaza.

Bassem Naim, a senior Hamas official, called the order insufficient and said an Israeli order to stop military attacks was needed to stop the humanitarian crisis.

“While we welcome any new demands to end the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza, especially in northern Gaza, we want a cease-fire order as an absolute solution to the dire situation suffered by the people of Gaza.” “There was,” he told Reuters .

Israel’s Foreign Ministry had no immediate comment.
