Indian Batsman Mayank Agarwal Overcomes Medical Emergency on Indigo Flight

Indian batsman and Karnataka captain Mayank Agarwal has overcome danger. The star will be discharged from the hospital in Agartala on Wednesday. Karnataka team manager Ramesh said that Mayank Agarwal would reach Bengaluru by noon and the star will not be able to speak for the next 48 hours due to ‘ulcers and swelling’. The actor was admitted to hospital last day after ingesting ‘poisonous liquid’ on the plane and suffering physical discomfort. The other day, just before starting an IndiGo flight, when he felt thirsty, he took the water kept in front of his seat and drank it. Later, Mayank felt discomfort in his throat and swelling in his lips.

Mayank Agarwal was taken to a private hospital after being dropped from an Indigo flight to Delhi at Agartala. In the evening, the hospital authorities issued a statement stating that the health condition is satisfactory and is being observed. Meanwhile, Mayank Agarwal has filed a complaint with the police. The complaint alleged a conspiracy behind the poisonous liquid arriving in front of his seat. Tripura Health Secretary Kiran Gitte said the police have received the complaint and will investigate what happened on the plane.

Mayank was on his way to Surat for Karnataka’s next Ranji Trophy match when he faced an unexpected situation. The player led Karnataka to victory against Tripura in the Elite Group C match in Agartala.

What happened on the plane?

We were about to take off. Mayank felt thirsty. So, he drank the water kept behind the seat pocket at the front of the seat. After a few minutes, I realized that my throat was itching. Mayank ran to the bathroom near the cockpit and informed the air hostess when he felt like vomiting,” Karnataka team manager Ramesh told India Today.

‘The air hostess immediately rang the emergency bell. Check if there is any doctor available on the flight. Unfortunately there was no doctor. So the pilot was informed. The pilot sent a message to the airport authority. Doctors arrived on the plane. They took the position that we cannot give first aid here and that we should be admitted to hospital. With this, the ambulance arrived. He was taken to the hospital,” Ramesh added.

Meanwhile, Mayank Agarwal will miss Karnataka’s next Ranji Trophy match against Railways in Surat from February 2-5. But the star might be able to play in the next match against Tamil Nadu in Chennai from February 9 to 13.

Meanwhile, IndiGo issued a statement. But this does not explain the cause of the medical emergency.

Indigo flight 6E 5177 operating from Agartala to Delhi returned due to medical emergency. The passenger was taken to hospital for further medical attention. At 1620h, the flight left again for its destination, the airline said in a press release.
