India’s target of 288 in the third ODI

Quinn de Kok’s century helped India reach the target of 288 in the third ODI against South Africa. All out for 287 in 49.5 overs. De Kok scored 124 runs. Another scorer was Razi van Dusan with 52 runs. The South African score was below 300, with no significant contribution from the tail end.

India won the toss and elected to field. But South Africa did not get the desired start. The first wicket fell when the team score was 8. Malan was caught by Chahar wicket-keeper. South Africa were bowled out for 70 with two wickets in hand. But for the fourth wicket, D’Coque and Dasan saved the team.

When De Kok played in his own style, he was tasked with supporting the dozen. When the opportunity arose, he found the boundary. He was born with a 144-run partnership. De Kok’s innings consisted of 12 fours and two sixes off 130 balls. South Africa’s run rate dropped as the two fell close together. The latter tried to move the scoreboard but the Indian bowlers did not allow it.

David Miller’s rescue effort helped the team cross the 280 mark. Prasidh Krishna took three wickets for India but conceded 59 runs in 9.3 overs. Deepak Chahar and Jaspreet Bumra took two wickets each. India had earlier abandoned the series after losing the first two ODIs.
