Kolkata Knight Riders win IPL

Pune: Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL by a huge margin. Kolkata maintained their slim chance of reaching the play-offs by beating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 54 runs. With Andre Russell filling the field with the bat and ball, Kolkata set a target of 178 for victory as Hyderabad were bowled out for 123 in 20 overs for the loss of eight wickets.

Kolkata won the toss and elected to bat. This is Hyderabad’s fifth defeat in a row after losing the first two matches and then winning five matches in a row. Umran Malik took three wickets for Hyderabad.

Earlier, Kolkata won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 177 for six in 20 overs. Russell was Kolkata’s top scorer with 49 not out off 28 balls. Russell scored 20 runs, including three sixes, in the final over bowled by Washington Sunder to give Kolkata a commanding lead. Score: Kolkata Knight Riders 177-6, Sunrisers Hyderabad 123-8.
