While the government announced that it would enact the ‘1st New City Special Act’, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport formed the ‘Private-Private Joint Task Force for the 1st New City Reorganization’ and started to establish the 1st new city master plan.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 30th that it launched the ‘Private-Private-Private Task Force for the 1st New Town Reorganization’ in which private experts in the fields of housing, real estate, and urban planning, as well as those in charge of the government and local governments, participated and held the first meeting. The TF team leader was jointly led by Kim Ho-cheol, a professor of urban planning and real estate at Dankook University, and Kim Heung-jin, head of the Land, Infrastructure and Urban Affairs Office. The TF is divided into two divisions, ‘plan’ and ‘system’, and holds regular meetings to review the direction of the reorganization policy of the first new city.

From the perspective of urban re-creation, the TF plans to establish a comprehensive plan (master plan) by reviewing △ maintenance of old houses, △ expansion of infrastructure, △ improvement of metropolitan transportation, and △ improvement of urban functions. In addition, it was decided to analyze the bills pending in the National Assembly regarding the reorganization of old new towns to find institutionalization measures and to support the legislation. Professor Kim, a joint team leader in the private sector, said, “We will support the establishment of a substantial master plan by actively accepting market demands to promote regional vitality and ensure balanced development between regions.”
