Napoli Struggles to Find a Replacement for Kim Min-jae in Transfer Market

Kim Min-jae’s Departure Leaves Napoli in Search of a Replacement

Rumors swirl as Napoli faces the daunting task of finding a successor for the talented Kim Min-jae in a frenzied summer transfer market, according to Italian sports newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The coveted defender was initially expected to join Manchester United, a club he had shown interest in for quite some time. However, a sudden turn of events saw Bayern Munich enter the fray and emerge as the final victor in the race to secure Kim Min-jae’s services.

“Kim Min-jae is on the verge of joining Bayern Munich. The transfer is confirmed, with the finer details now being ironed out,” reveals Florian Plettenberg, a renowned reporter from Sky Sports Germany. The deal is reported to be worth between 10 million euros (approximately 14.2 billion won) and 12 million euros (approximately 17 billion won).

Renowned European football transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano also chimes in with his famous catchphrase, “Here we go.” He previously stated that Bayern Munich is prepared to undergo the necessary procedures to activate the purchase clause and finalize the signing of Kim Min-jae in the next ten days.

If the reported figures are accurate, Kim Min-jae would become the most expensive Asian soccer player in history. German publications like Bild and Sport 1 suggest a transfer fee of around 50 million euros (approximately 70.9 billion won), while Gazzetta dello Sport estimates it to be around 58 million euros (approximately 82.2 billion won). Regardless, it would surpass the previous record of 35 million euros (approximately 50.3 billion won) set by Japan’s Shoya Nakajima when he moved to Porto.

While Bayern Munich rejoices at securing such a talented defender at a relatively reasonable price, Napoli must grapple with the loss of an MVP-level player who played a pivotal role in the team’s success last season.

Without Kim Min-jae, Napoli faces a significant void. His quick feet, aerial prowess, and involvement in attacking plays were instrumental in the bold forward pressure and attacking style Napoli exhibited last season.

However, finding a suitable replacement for Kim Min-jae proves to be a complex task for Napoli. Gazzetta dello Sport highlights the difficulty of signing a defender with comparable age and skill, particularly in a transfer market where defensive players command exorbitant fees.

Napoli has reportedly explored several options but encountered roadblocks due to the high transfer fees involved. As a result, the search for a worthy successor becomes increasingly challenging, with a budget of around 40 million euros (approximately 56.6 billion won) needed.

“It seems complicated for Napoli to fill the void left by Kim Min-jae. Acquiring a player with similar attributes and abilities is no easy task, especially given the premium prices for quality defenders in this transfer market,” laments the media.

[OSEN=이인환 기자] Napoli breathes a sigh of relief in the absence of Kim Min-jae.

Italy’s Gazzetta dello Sport reported on the 5th (Korea time), “Napoli faces an almost impossible mission to find a replacement for Kim Min-jae in the crazy summer transfer market.”

Kim Min-jae is set to join Munich. Initially, he seemed likely to transfer to Manchester United, who he had been interested in for a long time, but the tide changed when Munich suddenly jumped in.

In the competition to recruit Kim Min-jae, where he faced several teams such as Manchester United, Munich, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, and Newcastle United, it seems that Munich is the final winner.

Reporter Florian Plettenberg of ‘Sky Sports Germany’, known as Munich, said directly, “Kim Min-jae is about to join Munich. The transfer has been confirmed. The last big details have become clear in recent days.” 10 million euros (about 14.2 billion won) to 12 million euros (about 17 billion won),” he said.

European football transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano also shouted his signature “Here we go”. On the 2nd, he said, “Munich is ready to go through all the procedures to activate the purchase clause and recruit Kim Min-jae within 10 days.”

Now, Kim Min-jae is set to become the most expensive Asian soccer player in history. German media outlets such as Bild and Sport 1 claimed his transfer fee was 50 million euros (about 70.9 billion won), while Italy’s Gazzetta dello Sport estimated it at 58 million euros (about 82.2 billion won ).

The exact amount is still unknown, but it is undoubtedly the highest transfer fee ever in Asia. Kim Min-jae is set to wear a Munich uniform with a much higher sum than the record 35 million euros (about 50.3 billion won) recorded by Japan’s Shoya Nakajima when he joined Porto.

Munich got the best defender for a relatively cheap price, while Napoli lost an MVP-level player who played a key role in winning the team for a relatively cheap price.

From Napoli’s point of view, the difference between having and having Kim Min-jae is huge. In fact, the bold forward pressure and attacking football that Napoli showed last season was only thanks to Kim Min-jae’s quick feet, aerial balls, and involvement up front.

Gazzetta dello Sport said, “The process of finding the second Kim Min-jae from Napoli’s point of view is getting more and more complicated. It is not possible to recruit a good defender, but the time has come when 40 million euros (about 56.6 billion won) are needed.”

“Napoli have already reviewed several defenders, but all of them have been canceled due to transfer fee issues,” he said.

The media sighed, “Finding a replacement for Kim Min-jae seems complicated for Napoli. It is difficult to find a player with age and skills. Especially in this transfer market, it is possible because that the price of a defender’s ransom is gold.”
