NY state manufacturing business index, 10.80 in April greatly exceeds expectations | Reuters

[ワシントン 17日 ロイター] – The New York State Manufacturing Index, released by the New York Fed on the 17th, rose 35.4 points to 10.8 in April. That was well above economists’ expectations of minus 18.0. New orders and shipments have increased.

A positive number means New York manufacturing is growing. It is also an encouraging sign for manufacturing across the country, which has been hit hard by rising interest rates and a shift in consumer spending from goods to services.

New orders rose 46.8 points to 25.1, while shipments rose 37.3 points to 23.9.

However, the business sentiment index six months ahead is 6.6, and companies do not expect the situation to improve significantly in the next six months. March was 2.9.
