Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is recovering well after undergoing hip replacement surgery at a U.S. military hospital in Germany. The 84-year-old California Democrat suffered a fractured hip after a fall during a congressional delegation trip to Europe.
Pelosi was in Luxembourg with a bipartisan group of lawmakers to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge,a pivotal World War II conflict.
“Congresswoman Pelosi is well on the mend,” said Ian Krager,a spokesperson for Pelosi,in a statement.

rep.Michael McCaul (R-Texas), who was also on the trip, shared a photo on social media of himself and Pelosi holding hands at the U.S. Embassy in Luxembourg just before the incident. McCaul posted Friday that he was “praying for a speedy recovery” for Pelosi.
