This incident, also known as “SIM swapping,” was caused by a third party that obtained the user’s Rakuten ID and password through a fraudulent website such as a phishing website. There has reportedly been an incident where a user’s SIM is reissued as an eSIM, leading to fraudulent use of mobile communication services.
Measures to prevent damage
Countermeasures include not reusing passwords, setting different passwords for each service, and regularly checking your login history.
Additionally, it is recommended to set Rakuten ID to “Use a user ID other than an email address.”
If there is an eSIM reissue that you do not recognize
If you have already reissued an eSIM that you don’t remember, “Stop using Rakuten mobile line” → “Change Rakuten ID/password” → “Restart using Rakuten mobile line” → “reissue eSIM” → “eSIM profile” “Download” ‘.
