Ricarda Lang embarrasses herself with Markus Lanz’s pension statement

At Lanz, Lang noticed that she clearly misjudged the pension amount. But she is not the only traffic light politician with weak numbers.

Ricarda Lang didn’t cover herself with fame during a talk show appearance with Markus Lanz. When the moderator asked about the amount of the current average pension, she clearly misestimated it. In the program, which, in addition to the American primary election campaign and the relationship between China and Taiwan, focused a lot on the relationship between the Greens and the population, Markus Lanz asked the Federal Chairman of the Greens how much pension the average German receives after 45 years of contributions.

Lang replied that she didn’t know the numbers on an ad hoc basis. But Lanz didn’t give up and asked the Green politician to estimate a number. After some hesitation, Lang replied: “I would assume that we are around 2,000 euros.” Lanz immediately corrected her and explained that the average pension in Germany is just 1,543 euros. Christian Dürr misjudged himself by billions

This means that Lang misestimated by 457 euros or 29.6 percent. Lanz viewed Lang’s misjudgment as evidence that the Greens had lost contact with the population. However, Lang is not the only traffic light politician who has made a massive mistake when it comes to Lanz.

The deputy parliamentary group leader of the FDP, Christian Dürr, stated in a Lanz broadcast on the debt brake that Germany’s debt level was around one trillion euros. A misjudgment, because the actual debt level of the Federal Republic is 2.45 trillion euros. Dürr tried to correct his mistake by saying that he had made a mistake and that Germany actually had a total of 1.45 trillion euros in debt. But even with his corrected estimate he was off by a trillion euros.
