RTX 4090 max TDP 800W? Laptop GPUs are on par with RTX 30 series

Rumors that the AD102 will consume 900W of power, which is expected for the RTX 4090, will be 800W according to Kopite7kimi, he tweeted.

Kopite7kimi’s claim this time is 100W less than he said in April that Nvidia is verifying a SKU with 900W power. There are no official announcements or data from Nvidia regarding this, but what is certain is that the RTX 40 series consumes more power than the previous generation.

However, it is also possible that using 800W of huge power consumption is not the TDP of the typical model, but a part of how much power can be tolerated by board partners or manual overclocking. If a model with a TDP of 800W comes out, a cooling solution must be provided, but it is questionable whether that part is possible with a general cooling solution.

Kopite7kimi also revealed information about RTX GPUs for laptops, claiming that, unlike desktop GPUs, the RTX 40 series for laptops will have nearly the same or slightly higher power limits than the current RTX 30 series.

On the other hand, it is a famous leaker related to Nvidia news, but it is currently only making claims without clear evidence.
