Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra 5G to Support eSIM: What You Need to Know

Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra 5G to Feature eSIM Support: Tipster

Rumors suggest the upcoming Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra 5G model from Samsung Electronics will reportedly offer eSIM capabilities alongside the traditional physical SIM card option.

A well-known tipster, Evan Blass (@evleaks), recently revealed that the highly anticipated ‘Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra 5G’ model is expected to be unveiled at the upcoming Galaxy Unpack event. According to Blass, this tablet will boast the ability to support eSIM (embedded SIM) technology.

In the past, earlier iterations of the Samsung Galaxy Tab, such as the Galaxy Tab S8 5G models, only offered physical SIM card support, making this rumored inclusion of eSIM all the more exciting.

For those unfamiliar, eSIM functions as a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) that allows users to download and utilize their carrier’s profile using a QR code located on a chip embedded in the device.

Notably, devices with eSIM support can make use of two phone numbers simultaneously. Samsung has already incorporated eSIM chips into their domestic flagship models, including the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4, both introduced last year.

Furthermore, the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra is said to maintain a similar design to its predecessor but will feature an upgraded dynamic AMOLED display. The tablet will also house the second-generation Snapdragon 8 chip, unique to Samsung Galaxy devices. Additionally, the device is expected to showcase an enhanced super wide camera, with a resolution upgraded from 6MP to 8MP.

Foreign media reported citing tipster Evan Blass (@evleaks) that the ‘Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra 5G’ model, which Samsung Electronics is expected to reveal at Galaxy Unpack next week, will support eSIM (embedded SIM).

According to Evan Blass’ report, the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra 5G model supports both physical SIM cards and eSIMs. Previous Galaxy Tab S8 5G models only supported physical SIM cards.

‘eSIM’ plays the same role as USIM, but unlike USIM, it is a SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) where the user downloads and uses the carrier’s profile by using a QR code on the chip embedded in the terminal.

In particular, devices that support eSIM can use two phone numbers. Samsung has been supporting eSIM chips in domestic flagship models since the release of the ▲ Galaxy Z Fold 4 ▲ Galaxy Z Flip 4 ▲ last year.

In addition, the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra has the same design as the previous model, but it is known that it will have an upgraded dynamic AMOLED display, a Galaxy-specific 2nd generation Snapdragon 8 chip, and will support a super wide camera upgraded from 6MP to 8MP.
