Saudi Arabia to host the next edition of the FIFA Club World Cup

RIYADH: FIFA has announced that Saudi Arabia will be the host for the next edition of the FIFA Club World Cup which will be held from December 12 to 22, 2023. The decision was made at the FIFA Council meeting held on Tuesday.

Sports Minister Abdul Aziz bin Turki Al Faisal said that they are proud and very happy to have the opportunity to welcome the world’s leading football clubs and their fans to Saudi Arabia.

Saudi will be the last Club World Cup to be held with seven teams in the current format. The champions of six continents and the champion club of the host country take part in the tournament. FIFA is trying to expand the Club World Cup to 32 teams. 12 European clubs will have the opportunity to play in the Club World Cup.

Six places are allocated to Latin America, four each to Asia, Africa and the CONCACAF region and one to Oceania. The 2025 Club World Cup is likely to be held in the United States. The tournament will be granted to America as a warm-up for the 2026 World Cup.
