in his inaugural address to the national Assembly, Lee ⁣outlined a strategy of “strong deterrence” against North Korean threats, based on the existing south Korea-U.S. military alliance.However, he also expressed a ⁢commitment to opening communication channels with​ Pyongyang to foster peace on⁣ the Korean Peninsula through negotiation and cooperation.
