Kochi: A Mumbai Malayalee woman has lodged a complaint against Saiju Thankachan for allegedly following the car in which Miss Kerala winners were killed in a road accident.

Saiju had taken a loan of Rs 10 lakh from the woman without mentioning that it was a drug deal. When the woman found out that the money was used to smuggle chemicals to Kochi, Saiju threatened her when she demanded a refund. He lodged a complaint with the police but the case was not registered.

Unaware of Saiju’s criminal connections, the woman went to Kochi twice to get her money back and returned to Mumbai after realizing that her life was in danger. Police later did not investigate the woman’s complaint.

Saiju’s involvement in the deaths of the models came to light after the words of Abdul Rahman, who barely escaped the accident, came out. An anticipatory bail application has been filed in the High Court.

After the models were killed in the accident, the investigation team got evidence that Saiju, who had been calling the owner of the No. 18 hotel in Fort Kochi, was also involved in the Kozhikode-based drug trafficking racket. The investigation team obtained a statement from the registered owner of the Audi car used by Saiju to follow the models.
