The president of Joseph Ki-Zerbo University, Prof. Jean François Silas Kobiané, hosted a press briefing this Tuesday, April 30, 2024 in Ouagadougou, to announce the colors of the golden jubilee celebration. A parade and a fiftieth anniversary tree planting were the highlights of this announcement day.

1974-2024. The University of Ouagadougou is 50 years old. The university was established on April 1, 1974 by ministerial decree. As a prelude to the celebration of the institution’s fiftieth anniversary, the organizing committee organized an announcement day to outline the main axes of this commemoration.
A commemoration marked by the assessment of fifty years of existence, hence the choice of theme “Joseph Ki-Zerbo University (1975-2024): fifty (50) years of contribution to endogenous and sustainable development in Burkina Faso”.
According to the president of the university Joseph Ki-Zerbo, Professor Jean François Silas Kobiané, 50 years later, the institution has contributed to the training of executives who are the pride of the nation and other sub-regional and regional nations.
Tree planting to announce the fiftieth anniversary of Josephe Ki-Zerbo University
“The country’s first higher education institution, the UJKZ has trained so many men and women in different sectors of development of our nation, who have practiced and who are practicing at the national, regional and international level”underlined Professor Jean François Silas Kobiané.
As a program of activities for this fiftieth anniversary, the university community of the UJKZ in communion with all the Higher Education and Research Institutions (IESR) and the support of the ministerial authorities have planned to organize various activities throughout the year. the year 2024 more particularly in the months of April, May, June, November and December.

These include, among other things, reflection workshops, public conferences on major development issues and the challenges of higher education and research, visibility activities for training offers and research results, exhibitions-sales, an evening of excellence and an international scientific conference which will constitute the series of activities for this golden jubilee. The start of its activities is scheduled for June 14, 2024 at Joseph Ki-Zerbo University.

As a reminder, Joseph KI-ZERBO University today has more than 100,000 students spread across 5 training and research units, 6 attached institutes, 2 university centers, 4 doctoral schools which bring together around fifty research laboratories. Also, the university employs more than 700 teacher-researchers.
