You can’t play “Halo Infinite” or MS Flight Simulator on Steam Deck. For anti-cheat-Engadget Japanese version

MS Flight Simulator

At the end of February, Valve’s mobile PC for games “Steam Deck” was released, but Microsoft in the United States is wondering which of its own games (Xbox Game Studios works including studios participating in Bethesda Softwork) are compatible. I made it clear.

Steam Deck’s game title compatibility is documented according to the validation program presented by Valve. Roughly speaking, “Verified” means that you can play without problems, and “Playable” means that you can play, but you need to manually set the controller configuration. “Unknown” means something that hasn’t been verified yet, and “Unsupported” means something that doesn’t work.

Well, the Steam Deck compatibility list revealed by MS is as follows, but quite a big game is said to be “non-compliant”.

Verified

Playable

  • Sea of Thieves

  • Fallout 4

  • Forza Horizon 5

  • Forza Horizon 4

  • Quantum Break

  • State of Decay: YOSE

incompatible

The four non-compliant are said to be “for anti-cheat”. Online play games for PCs these days generally require the installation of anti-cheat software, that is, software that detects cheats and cracks down on cheating. In other words, in order to play the game, anti-cheat must first work.

Valve is working on two major anti-cheat “EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat)” and “Battle Eye”, but not all are going well. Fortnite also can’t be played because it doesn’t support anti-cheat, and Bungie warns that if you force Destiny 2 to move, you’ll be subject to BAN.

It’s a pity that you can’t play on Steam Deck because all of the five non-compliant games are masterpieces of MS and Xbox. However, if it’s not because of lack of specs but because it doesn’t support anti-cheat, it may work someday.
