You don’t need to rent a bike to get around Bali, a new tip

For those traveling to Bali, the island of the gods, cycling is the cheapest and most convenient way to get around. Many bike rental companies for foreign tourists are common here. But Bali is about to end its motorcycle rental program.

Bali has long been a favorite destination for backpackers and beach lovers. However, cases involving traffic violators are increasing day by day in Bali. According to local police records, more than 170 foreign nationals are said to have broken traffic rules between the end of February and the beginning of March.

Foreigners riding motorbikes without valid papers and helmets are common here. In addition, reckless driving, use of fake Indonesian identity cards, misuse of residence and work permits also occur here. The new law is aimed at such people.

If bicycles are banned, tourists will have to rely on car-like facilities. Foreign tourists are allowed to travel in cars provided by travel agencies. This will make local travel more expensive. This can have an adverse effect on tourism. Moreover, it will lead to traffic jams and more pollution.

According to official tourism figures, a large number of people arriving in Indonesia are Russian citizens. Many of them enter the workforce illegally after arriving on tourist visas. At least four Russian citizens were deported this month for visa violations. Bali authorities have asked the Central Immigration Agency to cancel the visa-on-arrival policy for Russian and Ukrainian citizens.

Immigration authorities have repeatedly warned foreigners in Bali against working on arrival on a tourist visa.
